Pouring oatmilk into an apple crisp macchiato.

I am obsessed with Starbucks apple crisp oatmilk macchiato. The drink has all the warm fall feels thanks to brown sugar, apple, and caramel. Starbucks adds creamy oat milk, which adds a unique warmth to this drink.

But this drink is expensive. And if you are like me, Starbucks runs add up quickly. So, instead, I made a Starbucks apple crisp oatmilk macchiato copycat recipe at home!

You don’t have to stop making this drink at home. You can make other Starbucks copycat recipes, including blueberry scones, vanilla sweet cream cold foampetite vanilla scones, and my favorite, Starbucks hot chocolate!

  • Fall flavor: The apple flavor captures the season’s magic.
  • Save money: Why give Starbucks $6 when you can make it for a fraction of the cost?

Ingredients

Ingredients used in making the recipe.

Note: The syrup in the picture differs from the one I recommend. I updated this post one year after this picture was taken with Monin’s new flavor.

Oatmilk

Starbucks uses oat milk. It is a non-dairy vegan milk made from oats. I use it at home to make all my drinks; it is vegan, not harmful to the environment, and has a warmth. It is important to note you are not limited to oat milk. You can use your favorite milk, including dairy or almond milk.

Blonde Espresso Roast

This is a lighter espresso than Starbucks Pike Roast. You can get it at most grocery stores, Starbucks, or online. What is important to note is that you are not limited to blonde espresso roast. You can use any espresso or coffee for a lighter flavor.

Apple Crisp Syrup

Monin Caramel Apple Butter Syrup is all you need to make this drink. Monin’s makes an apple crisp syrup that tastes just like Starbucks!

Spiced Apple Drizzle

The Monin Caramel Apple Butter Syrup has a lot of apple flavor. Another option is to make homemade vegan apple honey.

Pro Tip: When making the iced version, place ice in the glass, followed by milk, syrup, and then expresso. If the expresso goes first, it melts the ice and dilutes the flavor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, the standard Apple Crisp Oatmilk Macchiato has caffeine. However, you can order decaf at Starbucks or make it home using decaf blonde espresso.

The ingredients used at Starbucks are vegan, but Starbucks does not certify any of its drinks as vegan. By making this drink at home, you can ensure it’s vegan and does not come in contact with dairy products.

The milk-to-espresso ratio is different between a macchiato and a latte. In Italy, a traditional latte is made with one-third espresso and two-thirds steamed milk, while a traditional macchiato is made with equal parts espresso and steamed milk. Starbucks makes its own ratio rules.
