Homemade Lebanese Rose Lemonade
Homemade Lebanese Rose lemonade (Sharab Ward) is the perfect balance between two flavors: the sharp taste of lemon and the floral taste of rose water. Make this recipe in minutes and bring a fun Mediterranean twist to lemonade!
Rose lemonade has been around for centuries! It originated in Persia and spread throughout the Middle East. I love that the rose helps to balance the tart of the lemons.
I love sipping on this drink during hot days, especially when I’m in the mood for something light. It’s the perfect companion to a Turkish Shepherd salad, Greek cucumber salad, or the oh-so-popular Jennifer Aniston quinoa salad.
What is Rose Lemonade?
Rose lemonade combines fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, rose, and sometimes edible rose petals. Typically, you drink it in a glass with ice and a slice of lemon, and club soda can be mixed in for an added bit of fizz. When I make a large batch for a group, I like to add dehydrated orange slices for an unexpected pop of color and flavor!
What Does Rose Lemonade Taste Like?
Rose lemonade tastes like a blend of tart and sweet with a floral finish. Adjust the sugar ratios to make the drink more tart or sweet. I recommend going light on the rose simple syrup. It is an ingredient that can go from having a great flavor to tasting artificial in a few drops.
Ingredients
- Rose Syrup: Rose syrup is a sweet, floral-flavored simple syrup. It can be made home by steeping edible rose petals in sugar and water. It is also available at some grocery stores. Ultimately, I prefer using Monin Rose Syrup.
- Lemonade: Homemade is a blend of lemon, sugar, and water. It tastes much better than anything you buy at the store.
- Garnishes (optional): I recommend adding garnishes to make this drink a show-stopper. Here are my favorite garnishes with rose lemonade.
- Edible rose petals: Edible rose petals are a beautiful garnish. I purchase the petals in the picture online.
- Lemon slices: Lemon slices are a classic garnish for lemonade.
- Fresh Mint leaves: Add fresh mint leaves to perk up the flavor.
- Rosemary sprigs: Rosemary is my favorite garnish. It grounds this drink perfectly!
